About project
Climate change has an increasing impact on the environment,
economic development and human health every year.
With each year, climate change has a greater impact on the environment, economic development, and health of people. The increased level of floods, droughts, ice melting, heat waves negatively impacts on sustainability of forestry, fishery, agriculture and on livelihood of communities that depend on these industries. The main reason of climate change is the greenhouse gases. This global challenge can be tackled only by the concerted efforts of all countries. Chemistry has an important role to play in helping to mitigate climate change by developing green technologies.
The wider project objective is to enhance the quality of chemistry education and employability of the chemistry graduates of Vietnamese universities through introducing the-state-of-the art Master’s programs in line with Bologna provisions and to mitigate impact of climate change in Vietnam by introducing community capacity building.
Specific project objectives:
1.To develop a new interdisciplinary high-quality multi-track Master’s program in Future-oriented Chemistry in line with the Bologna provisions and while adapting the EU best practice
2.To upgrade the teaching staff skills in T&L&A
3.To set up centres of excellence in future-oriented chemistry
4.To raise awareness of local communities of climate change impact and chemical solutions for its mitigation
The associated partners representing various target groups will be fully engaged in the achievement of set objectives. The external evaluation and professional accreditation of new programs will prove their quality. The set objectives correspond to national agendas. All partner universities have a previous record of cooperation among themselves, which will contribute to the success of the joint work.
Project work packages
WP1 PREPARATION Preparatory phase
The objective of this package is to lay the base for the successful project implementation in terms of administrative procedures, strategies, and key competencies. Methodology: introduction of members from partner countries to best EU practice through observation, field research and presentations by the EU partners; brainstorming sessions; adapting the best practice and development of project deliverables; evaluation of the deliverables by the Quality committee and finally their publication on the project web site.

WP2 DEVELOPMENT Master’s program
The objective of this package is to develop and test a module-based interdisciplinary Master’s program in Chemistry with 2 tracks in line with the Bologna provisions. The tracks are Chemistry for sustainable development and Chemistry for Environment. Methodology of development: project participants will use a classic approach to program development: each program aspect is developed in coherent and logically connected way: curriculum and modules are based on the developed descriptors, T&A methods are developed depending on the course and module content. QA mechanisms, embedded into each program, finalize the program design.

WP3 DEVELOPMENT New structural units
The package is aimed at enhancing capacity of partner universities to provide public service in relevant fields to various stakeholders’ groups. Methodology for training is based on the cascade model and uses multi-application strategy: first, provision of training for a small group of teachers, then the trained trainers will develop community capacity building and deliver training online and face-to-face to target groups during pilot FOREST policy workshops, LLL programs, regular training events. During the implementation of this WP, structural innovations will be introduced in partner countries: new units (centres of excellence).

WP4 QUALITY PLAN Quality assurance and monitoring
The objective of this WP is to ensure the quality of the project implementation and the project deliverables. Methodology: quality assurance will incorporate monitoring and evaluation (internal and external) activities.
Lead Organisation | Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT) HUS |
WP5 DISSEMINATION &EXPLOITATION Project dissemination& exploitation
The objective of this WP is threefold: to attract attention and to create a positive image of the project impact in the field of chemistry and climate change; to raise awareness of project outputs among the academic sector and regional communities, to ensure the sustainability of the main project deliverables. Methodology: to involve all partners and to use different channels and tools at institutional, national and international level as well as specific policies and plans developed in the dissemination and sustainability plans within the WP1.

WP6 MANAGEMENT Project management and coordination
The objective of this WP is to ensure smooth strategic and operational project implementation. The overall management structure consists of Project management board (PMB) (project level), WPs leadership (package level) and local project managers (institutional level).
